Andros, the noble isle of Arts & Waters
Andros Island is the northernmost island of the Greek Cyclades and the closest Aegean island to Athens. This proximity has established it as one of the best holiday spots for short and long vacations. At least two ferries departing every day from Athens (Port of Rafina) to Andros (Port of Gavrio) and the trip can last from 1.50 to 2 hours. Rafina is also situated very close to the Athens International airport (30 mins drive away). You can reach the port both from the Airport and the center of the city using taxis or the many bus routes available. To reach from Gavrio Port to the Capital of Andros (Chora), local transport is ensured by the island’s bus network (KTEL), with frequent service between the villages, while taxis are also available. The island is also well connected with other popular destinations (Tinos, Mykonos, and Syros) and is an ideal place to start your exploration of the Cyclades.
Andros has some of the most diverse, clean, and calm beaches in the Aegean Sea. The long sandy and rocky beaches in the summer are wonderful to look at and dive in. Blessed with verdant vegetation and flowing streams Andros is the greenest and most fertile island in the Cyclades and for that reason in the winter, Andros has many green mountains, pathways and beautiful waterfalls to see.
